The Computer-Assisted Surgery (CAS) group was established in September 2013 by the Faculty of Computer Science and is headed by Christian Hansen. Our team is part of the Research Campus STIMULATE, a new research center in the field of image-guided local therapies.

Our research is focused on Computer-Assisted Radiology and Surgery, Medical Image Processing and Visualization, Medical Augmented Reality, and Human-Computer Interaction. We offer lectures and seminars in the bachelor and master programs of Computer Science, Computational Visualistics, and Medical Systems Engineering.

The CAS group strongly cooperates with the Institute of Computational Visualistics at University Koblenz-Landau, the Center for Human-Machine-Systems at Technical University Berlin, and its partners within in the STIMULATE network, especially with the University Hospital Magdeburg, the Hannover Medical School, Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen, and the ARTORG Center in Bern, Switzerland.
