The Computer-Assisted Surgery (CAS) group was established in September 2013 by the Faculty of Computer Science and is headed by Jun.-Prof. Dr. Christian Hansen. The group is part of the Research Campus STIMULATE, a new research center in the field of image-guided local therapies.

Due to the current circumstances, the entire CAS Group is currently working remotely. We can only be contacted via E-Mail until further notice. Please find our E-Mail contact data on the "People" page.

Our research is focused on Medical Virtual/Augmented Reality, Human-Computer Interaction, and Medical Image Processing. We offer lectures and seminars in the bachelor and master programs of Computer Science, Computational Visualistics, and Medical Systems Engineering.

The CAS group cooperates with its partners within in the STIMULATE network, especially with the University Hospital Magdeburg, the Hannover Medical School, the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Fraunhofer MEVIS in Bremen, the ARTORG Center in Bern, the Visualization and Explorative Data Analysis Group at the University of Jena, and the Games Institute at the University of Waterloo.
