26.10.2015 Worldwide significant Visualization Conference brought to Germany: Computational visualistics from Magdeburg had another success at the IEEE VIS Conference. Together with other colleagues, they brought the Conference, that is traditionally held in different places of the United States, to Europe. The IEEE VIS Conference 2018 take place in Berlin. Holger Theisel, Bernhard Preim, Petra Specht and Colleagues from Leipzig and Berlin will be organize this event. This conference is for the second time at all in Europe and for the first time in Germany. Approximately 1500 participants are expected.
26.10.2015 Honorable Mention Award for Tobias Günther: The IEEE VIS is the world's most important conference on the field of visualization. At this year's conference, which was held in Chicago( USA ) in October, were computational visualistics students from Magdeburg extremely successful: the scientist working groups of Prof. Bernhard Preim and Prof. Holger Theisel could presenting a total of 7 scientific articles and are this year one of the world most successful universities. One of the articles, the work of Tobias Günther, Maik Schulze and Holger Theisel about Rotationally invariant vortex structures, received even an "Honorable Mention Award " as one of the best posts on the conference. This is a novel process for visual analysis vortices in devices with rotating components such as mixers, Fans, centrifugal pumps, or helicopters, presented .
