User Interface Lab G29-241
4 SWS, ECTS-Credits: 6
Communication Language: EnglishThe Lab Project comprises practical technical work and software development for building a multi-touch tabletop along with several sample applications in the field.
We have successfully built a multitouch console using the FTIR-principle. Due to its large scale (100cm x 70cm) it is usable by multiple user at once. Using touchlib as a multitouch-framework, we are able to track multiple inputs, either from touch or active IR-sources. The console is being used as a source of research within the CVSE group. Further information can be found at http://handzeichen.cvler.de.

MCN Pong is a marker based Pong clone. The complete game can be controlled by specially constructed tangible widgets being tracked by an infrared camera. In addition to the two bat controlling widgets there are two widgets for controlling the in-game menu, which can be used to change the number of rounds and levels. MCN Pong features levels of various difficulties. In the case that no camera is available, keyboard input can be used instead of marker tracking.

In the arcadelike game "Wrath of the firegods" two people play against each other by throwing burning rocks from vulcanos to destroy targets on the opponents side. During gameplay, the players are able to protect themselves with walls and to modify the direction of their own rocks on their way to the enemy. Each player uses an interactive pen to take action in the game.
