The lecture with accompanying courses is intended as an advanced HCI modul and builds on prior basic HCI lectures, such as "Interactive Systems". Effective user interfaces in combination with an appealing user experience are central requirements for designing interactive products of the future, since they become increasingly virtual and will provide similar functionality. Even the development of Natural User Interfaces (NUI) of the next generation requires a highly structured development process. Classical Software & Usability Engineering processes will fall short in this area. The lecture shows and explains modern development processes designed for these special requirements (focusing on Scenario-Based Design and User Experience Design) starting from the user-centered analysis phase to the final systematic product evaluation. Besides the structured and engineering-oriented approach, the main focus of this course is on the creative design phases, including sketches and early prototypes. Parallel to the lectures, students will form teams for a semester-spanning project, in which the User Interface Engineering process is trained with all phases while developing an interesting NUI.
