In the team formation phase, members of a team choose their roles themselves. It is important that all members of a team agree on who is to be the project leader.
Each role represents an area of responsibility, not an assigned task. Take, for example, the role Data Collection and Analysis . The person with this role is responsible for his/her team collecting and analysing the necessary data. It does not mean that this person has to do all the data collection and analysis on their own. Similarly, the Chief Software Architect is responsible for the simulation program that is produced by his/her team - it does not mean that he/she does all the programming alone (in fact he/she might not do any programming at all!)
