Pattern Matching in Scalar and Vector Fields
I give an overview of our recent methods on pattern matching in scalar
and vector fields. Pattern matching allows the user to provide an
example feature or structure, and the system finds similar structures
within the data set. This applies to both space and time. We apply
different approaches from topology-based to vision-based. A discussion
at the end will allow us to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of
each method and can lead us to finding new approaches.
